Once upon a time, in a virtual land called Uusi, married magic-makers Peter Dunham and Linnea Gits had a conversation about giving undiscovered artists a chance to shine.
So they huffed and they puffed, and poof: Uusi Studio was born.
Based on the philosophy that overexposure and mass production inhibit creativity, the studio releases limited-edition pieces by a different artist monthly.
The first of the year is an eight-print series designed by Gits entitled Make-Believe. Each work is a whimsical riff on a storybook character from a childhood fairy tale: “The Princess and the Pea,” “Rumpelstiltskin,” “The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg,” and more.
Gits colors each one and screen-prints on archival printing paper.
Up next: a covetable jewelry collection from local artist Anna Kunz.
She’s a whole other story.
Available online at uusi.us, $65-$375.
