Ripe is the fruity counterpart to Nigel Slater’s ode to vegetables, Tender. Slater’s deep knowledge of and reverence for fruit comes through in starkly beautiful photographs and thoughtful recipes that take fruit to new heights. The mackerel with rhubarb and sherry vinegar made our head spin; baked pears with marsala takes comfort food to a new level.
