On May 1, 1893, the Chicago World’s Fair opened to the public.
Tomorrow (May 1, 2012) Argent Restaurant and Raw Bar debuts at Dana Hotel and Spa.
Coincidence? We think not.
Most everything at Argent is inspired by the city during its 1800s heyday. Culinary director Rodelio Aglibot (BLT Restaurants, Sunda), executive chef Jackie Shen (Jackie’s, Red Light, Chicago Cut Steakhouse), and proprietor Toni Motamen’s (Raw Bar) menu honors the past while staying true to contemporary palates.
The burger is bound to be a hit: two pounded beef patties from LaFrieda (Argent is the first local restaurant to serve the meat) topped with French dressing. Iconic American dishes (carpetbag steak, oxtail ragout, seared sushi scallop, lobster hash) round out the menu.
At the second-floor raw bar, oysters chill comfortably in a repurposed sink from Lane Tech High School; photos from the World’s Fair pepper the walls.
There’s no time like the present.
