Nesting Instinct: A Nursery for Two

Nesting opens its little black book

An interior designer decorating her own baby nursery is like a pastry chef baking her own wedding cake. Lots of layers.

Which is why we couldn’t wait to share what Susan Hutchinson, founder of Nesting, cooked up in her home. Expecting boy/girl twins later this summer, her gender-neutral oasis of creamy whites and vanillas is decadent yet airy and light. Mixing vintage elements (like her grandma’s dresser) and new finds meant to look old, the room feels rich with history. Here are her ingredients.

Millbrook iron crib, available at rhbabyandchild.com, $849.

Custom bedding and drapery, available at Nesting, prices vary.

Basil flush-mount ceiling fixture, available at circalighting.com, $462.

Milk glass night-light lamp, available at mauradaniel.com, $190.

Bird mobile, available at tamarmogendorff.com, $120-$210.

Custom cross-stitch and embroidery hoops, by Chez Sucre Cheze, available at etsy.com, prices vary.

Embroidered bunny on linen wall art, available at coralandtusk.com, $74.
