British Invasion: Dorus Mhor Jewelry

London calling

dorus mhor!

It reads like a fairy tale:

Girl grows up in Northwest London nearby Linton Tweeds (where Chanel tweeds have been woven for decades).

At design school, girl obtains a bag of fabric scraps.

While backpacking in Vietnam, girl discovers a street vendor selling covered buttons. A lightbulb goes off. Girl returns home, grabs said bag, and gets to work.

That girl, Elizabeth Bloom, now crafts her exquisite jewelry line, Dorus Mhor (named after her childhood home), in a West Loop studio, sewing individual wooden beads into Liberty of London silk jackets and stringing them onto delicate gold and silver chains.

In her newest collections, Tiers of Light and The Colour Block, jazz and swing inspire earrings’ graceful movement and sheen; cheerfully hued multichain bracelets and necklaces nod to deco. Every piece is a work of art, at once playful and grown-up.

Charming bow ties give your chap an edge.

But that’s another story.
