The history. The architecture. The art. You’ve always dreamed of visiting Rome.
Enjoy a taste of the promised land at Ethan Stowell’s newest restaurant, Rione XIII, opening this week.
Named for the thirteenth district in the storied Italian city, Stowell’s traditional Roman trattoria occupies a charming Capitol Hill space where mahogany tables, sleek black leather chairs, custom metal lattices, and hand-blown glass pendant lights dress up exposed brick, heavy wood beams, and a polished concrete floor.
At the bar, beer and cocktails complement an Italian-centric wine list peppered with local offerings. When it comes to food, the menu is lush with traditional options, from an antipasti cart of cured meats, cheeses, and roasted vegetables to dishes such as veal saltimbocca, oxtail in tomato sauce, and fried artichokes. And the street-style pizza from the wood-fired oven?
