In the race for retail domination, the little guy often gets lost in the shuffle.
But one Abbot Kinney shop is in it to win it.
A former darling of San Francisco’s indie boutique circuit, Chariots on Fire recently relocated to L.A. when owner Ritz Yagi decided she needed a change of scenery.
With an increased emphasis on housewares and apothecary products, Yagi and her team scour the globe for unique and hard-to-find items like Llane Alexis custom dolls and In Fiore solid perfumes. Also up for grabs: a selection of vintage furniture curated by Yagi’s father, graphic design whiz Tamotsu Yagi.
Then, of course, there’s the store’s main thrill (or rather, frill): new and vintage jewelry like Jacqueline Cullen’s Whitby jet earrings, Marion Vidal’s ceramic necklaces, and Ruth Tomlinson’s gold electroformed rings.
This place is a real prize.
