Scramble to Eat at Hash

A new hangover helper hits the scene

Hangover breakfasts are more fulfilling when you’ve got an eighth of vodka in your stomach.

Soak it up at Bucktown newcomer Hash, opening today.

Owner Maggie McCoy’s (Bagel on Damen) counter service-focused breakfast and lunch spot traffics seasonal hash without the standard brunch brouhaha (read: no long lines).

The lively 24-seater has a throwback feel (Grateful Dead bootleg tapes, vintage mosaic finishes). Chef Jon Gorecki (Karyn’s on Green) lovingly sautes hash every which way, topping it with one egg or two, and serving it in a bowl.

Heavy hitters can sink their forks into pork shoulder, sweet potato, Brussels sprouts, and mustard cream sauce; chickpea, yogurt, crispy kale, and paneer is veggie heaven. Corned beef skews classic and hits every note. Soups, sandwiches, salads, and bagels are also available.

Wash it all down with Dark Matter coffee.

Or BYOB — it’s a vicious cycle.
