Meet Sportsman’s Club, Analogue, and The Radler

The three new kings of the bar scene

Within the past few weeks, a trio of bars waltzed their way into town. No two are alike, and each bears a precious gift(s). We think it’s wise you meet them all.

analogue!

Who: Analogue, an ’80s-obsessed, minimalist mixologist.
His pedigree: The Violet Hour veteran bartenders Robby Haynes and Henry Prendergast; chef Alfredo Nogueira (Flipside Cafe, Rootstock).
What he’s serving: Phenomenal cocktails such as Chilling Effectz (vodka, lemon, blackberry, Malört) and Radio/Flyer (bourbon, lemon, smoked brown sugar, pumpkin bitters); plus seriously good smoked whitefish dip and soul-pleasing gumbo.
His special gift: Dance. After 9 p.m., he’s got moves like Jagger.

the sportsman club!

Who: The Sportsman’s Club, a down-to-earth Polish guy with an eye for taxidermy.
His pedigree: Dream team Matt Eisler and Kevin Heisner (Bangers & Lace, Trencherman, Lone Wolf), with bartenders Wade McElroy (Trenchermen) and Jeff Donahue (The Barrelhouse Flat).
What he’s serving: A daily rotation of creative $8 cocktails, plus The Sportsman (bourbon, amaro, tart cherry, Angostura bitters, absinthe, orange). And beer. And blended shots of amaro.
His special gift: A backyard garden with a fire pit on the way. A sound track of ’70s American and classic Polish rock. Wine, liquor, and six-packs you can carry to nearby BYOBs (Kai Zan, Bite Cafe). Need we say more?

the radler!

Who: The Radler, a big, friendly German foreign exchange student.
His pedigree: Chef Nathan Sears (Vie) and Adam Hebert (Vie, Tribeca Grill) with chef Paul Virant as a consulting partner.
What he’s serving: Fifteen beers on tap, including local favorites (Spiteful, Atlas, Begyle) and German/Austrian/Czech imports. Plus a full menu of authentic fare, including a fresh-baked pretzel with barley-malt butter and blackberry jam.
His special gift: Communal tables, cuckoo clocks behind the bar, and a 120-year-old wall mural saved by a Kickstarter campaign. Coming soon, D.A.S., a private dining room for ten that will host multicourse dinners.
