If celebrities were articles of clothing, Paris Hilton would be frayed denim (overpriced, overused trash), Mary-Kate Olsen would be the micro-mini (hardly there), and Lindsay Lohan, who came out of nowhere and is now everywhere, would be a tweed jacket.
Fall’s It fabric, tweed, is getting star treatment from Maxwell, a new women’s clothing line by Californian Heather Artukovich. Picture knee-length skirts with big-ass pleats, cropped pants to wear with as-high-as-you-can-go pumps, and vintage-style jackets that work as well with jeans as with a demure lunch-with-mother dress.
Artukovich’s designs let you hop on the tweed train without sacrificing your edge, so you’ll never risk looking like a twentysomething impersonating a 60-year-old diva in Chanel.
Best to leave those fashion faux pas to the stars.
Available exclusively at Public i, 1923 West Division Street, between Damen and Ashland Avenues (773-772-9088).
