Bring up fashion shows to a certain breed of Chicagoan, and you’re likely to hit a nerve.
After all, our only runways are at O’Hare and Midway.
Tell Ms. Prêt-à-Porter to get her fix at Svenska Mobler’s “Timeless Glamour: Off the Runway,” a new photography exhibit featuring never-before-seen pictures from the Parisian runways of the ’50s. Taken by the late Mark Shaw (one of Jackie O.’s favorite photogs), the images capture both the glamour on the catwalk (courtesy of Dior and Pierre Balmain) and the chaos behind the scenes.
Best of all, the show’s limited-edition prints are this fall’s must-have accessory. Which should keep Windy City shoppers happy — at least until next season.
Unless, of course, you mention sample sales.
Svenska Mobler, 516 North Wells Street, at Grand Avenue (312-595-9320). Exhibit is open from October 1 through December 3.
