Let's Get Physical

Another banner session at the gym. Between the impossible-to-decipher cardio equipment and the endless wait for the treadmill, it’s no wonder you can’t break a sweat.

Great timing, too. Your ass is looking more like a honey-baked ham every day.

Whatever to do?

Well, if you can get that 33-year-old man-child to drop the video-game controller and step away from the TV set long enough, you can channel your very own at-home trainer — minus the hefty hourly rate.

Yourself Fitness is not the typical spandex-heavy aerobics videotape; it’s more like a video game. (In fact, it’s made exclusively for Xbox use.) Which is not to say that it won’t get you into shape. Maya, your interactive personal trainer (okay, so that part sounds totally Lara Croft), will recommend a routine based on your height, weight, and fitness level. She’s not a “Drop the Cheetos and give me twenty” kind of trainer; she’s a good motivator, who asks for feedback several times a session and adjusts the workout accordingly.

More than 500 available moves means that no two routines are ever the same. Yoga, Pilates, cardio, strength, and flexibility are all included. Added bonus? A customized meal-planning component, which offers more than 4,500 recipes.

Now there’s something that Richard Simmons and Jane Fonda could never do in their wildest dreams.
