Hat Trick

Is there anything more joyous than the dual-purpose item? The El Camino (it’s a car and a truck!), the Easy Spirit shoe (looks like a pump, feels like a sneaker!), the little sis (she’s a relative and a personal slave!).

And now, just in time for winter (drumroll, please): the cap warmer (warms your head and your neck!).

French designer Beaumenay Joannet is making her stateside debut with a new line of unique winter accessories that combine cool materials (superfine mohair, alpaca, tulle, ribbons, sequins, and feathers) in creative ways to dazzling effect.

Our fave, the aforementioned knit cap warmer, can be worn as a hat or a neck accessory. Just pull it up over your noggin and tighten the strings (complete with fuzzy balls on the end) for a sensible cold-day cap or release the strings and pull it down around your neck to keep your below-the-chin region toasty. Ingenious.

What will they think of next? (It’s a camera and an egg poacher!)

Available at P45, 1643 North Damen Avenue, between North and Wabansia Avenues (773-862-4523).
