Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous

Celebs get all the perks.

Stylists drop gowns at their houses, makeup artists pop by to doll them up, and jewelry designers deck them in baubles to trot out on the red carpet.

Don’t feel left out. Get in on the action with San Francisco jewelry designer Nancy Dobbs Owen, whose Chicago sales rep makes house calls.

A self-taught jewelry designer, Dobbs Owen combines precious metals, semiprecious baubles, and pearls to create true standouts. You may have seen her lyrical, vintage-inspired designs on the likes of Uma Thurman and Sharon Stone, so you’ll be in good company. Of course, unlike those clients, you won’t get to borrow Dobbs Owen’s pieces for free.

Unless, that is, you can arrange to have some paparazzi loitering around your front hall.

By appointment only (415-235-3213 or nancydobbsowen.com). Select pieces available at Celeste Turner, 857 West Armitage Avenue, between Fremont and Dayton Streets (773-549-3390).
