Grape Nuts

Eavesdropping is fun.

Mmmm, great body, seductive, refreshing. Not to mention the legs.

But before you let it go to your head, check your surroundings.

Odds are at Just Grapes, the recently opened West Loop wine shop, they’re not raving about you, but one of the 350 bottles. The emphasis here is on smaller, artisan producers that you’re not likely to find at other places around town. Rather than present their selection by region or brand, the stylish spot arranges them by varietal and further subdivides them by flavors, from delicate to robust. They’ve even printed out a store map.

If you can’t decide on a bottle, take a taste from the Italian self-serve wine dispenser that features 16 different varietals. Still need help? Owners Don Sritong and Sharon Tulloch can answer your questions or sign you up for one of the store’s many seminars and classes.

So the next time you hear intense, heavy, and a bit fruity, blame it on the wine.
