High school gave us many memories: home-coming dances, forged hall passes, late nights at the Denny’s off of 41.
But while some of us were downing shots in the gym bathroom before the Battle of the Bands, others were tuning up for their shot at stardom.
Local boys Logan and Justin Baren, Andrew Langer, and Ben Greeno got more than a diploma when they graduated from high school — their band, The Redwalls, signed a deal with Capitol Records. With a debut album (“Universal Blues”) under their belts and their first record on Capital set to drop this June, The Redwalls are currently logging miles on the road opening for Britpoppers Keane.
Yeah, these guys are barely out of their teens. But don’t expect to hear a scratch re-mix of one of their tunes. Their inspiration comes from the sounds of their parents’ generation — they’ve been compared to early Beatles and young Bob Dylan — so be prepared for a ride down memory lane.
Minus the detention and spitballs.
The Redwalls perform Feb. 17 at the Riviera Theater, 4746 North Racine
Avenue between Leland and Lawrence Avenues (773-275-6800). To hear some
