Nicknames are like private property.
There’s nothing worse than when a new acquaintance crosses the line (Petie! Aw, thanks. Call me Pete.) before they’ve been invited in.
So it’s quite special when you make a more intimate connection off the bat.
Like with Kuketa, designer Maria Cicarelli’s new line of clutches. Named after her childhood moniker, the bags feel like old pals. Each design is inspired by nature, stitched by hand, and embellished with silk-screened flowers. Linen is finished off with a suede strap, or you can carry it loose, adding your own personal touch.
Cicarelli, a recent Art Institute grad, creates a unique collection for each boutique that carries her purses. So what she’ll make next is a mystery.
Though you’re likely to feel like you know them well enough to call them by their nickname.
