Hunters and Gatherers
Warehouse No. 4

You aren’t terribly fond of the hunt.
Overheated garage sales, dusty secondhand shops, flea markets — rifling through other people’s trash isn’t exactly your idea of a good time.
But when it comes to the contents of your home you still want them to have that “Oh, this thing? I just stripped and re-lacquered it last weekend” feel.
Leave the hard work to the ladies at Warehouse No. 4, a hidden jewel tucked away in Highland Park. Gena Rogers and Jackie Chilow spent years sourcing treasures from across the globe. The result: a cornucopia of items from near (North Shore estate auctions) and far (consignment items from France).
The warehouse is divided into three sections: shabby-chic finds, French Country gems, and Modernist chrome/glass pieces. Rogers and Chilow are also happy to keep an eye out for specific requests — so you don’t have to search for yourself.
Because finding Warehouse No. 4 may well be challenge enough.
Warehouse No. 4, 1596 Old Skokie Road, off of 41, Highland Park (847-831-2660).
