Healthy fast food is an oxymoron. Apple and walnut salad? A total sham. Peanut butter and banana smoothie? You may as well face plant in a pint of Ben & Jerry’s.
But the newly opened bite-size spring roll shop, Fan Si Pan, is about to change all of that. Chef Susan Furst (formerly of Chicago’s Four Seasons and Seattle’s Flying Fish) has created a well-priced selection of fresh, filling Vietnamese fare for people on the go.
Offerings include tangy chicken spring rolls stuffed with kefir lime, lemon grass, ginger, garlic, cucumber, papaya, pea shoots, red pepper, cilantro, mint, and basil; and the cool Five Spice Beef variety comes with peanuts, green onion, cilantro, bean sprouts, mango, and shredded carrots.
Even the French fried green beans with wasabi dipping sauce are good for you — if you order them steamed. Before you can say “gotta run,” you’ll more than satisfy your recommended five-a-day.
And you’ll never have to complain about getting super-sized.
