We hear you, Southport. Your creameries and dairies are doing a bang-up job of sending the message loud and clear.
This ain’t no block for the ice cream-leery.
But whatever is a sugar-craving, cone-fearing, sweets-loving, red-blooded Northsider to do?
Indulge in something from new kid on the ave Sensational Bites. CHIC alum Gina Sedivy did stints at Tru, Artopolis Bakery, and Sweet Mandy B’s before opening her own bright and friendly spot.
The exposed brick, tin ceiling, and open kitchen lend a homey feel, but you’ll get the most comfort from what’s stocked inside the bakery cases: towering three-layer cakes decorated with Seuss-like swirls and comical flowers, chocolate rum balls rolled in everything from crushed hazelnuts to dried cherries, and peanut butter truffles with Prozac-like power.
Or try the simple carrot cake, decadent German chocolate cake, fresh fruit tarts, and éclairs with chocolate ganache and silky vanilla cream.
In other words, something everyone can scream for.
