In Name Only

The Name Campaign for Ugandan Children

Dog tags as fashion? As far as we’re concerned, that dog had its day. A long, long time ago.

But every now and then, something worthwhile comes along to prove us doggone wrong.

Like The Name Campaign, an organization that helps Ugandan children who have been kidnapped by the rebel army and forced to commit horrific crimes and suffer heart-wrenching injustice. The situation has become so dangerous that the UN has called it “one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.”

The Name Campaign is hard at work to improve the issue, and you can help. Their suggested donation is the purchase of a dog tag that bears the name of an abducted child and his or her age. Wearing one not only raises awareness, but also provides the organization with funds to aid the children who manage to escape.

It’s a small step, to be sure.

But at least you’ll be barking up the right tree.
