A Tale of Two Cities

Alexandre Herchcovitch

Chicago vs. NYC. No contest in our minds. The lake. The people. The bang for your buck. We’ll take the city that works any day of the week.

Except maybe during Fashion Week. The Big Apple’s got us there.

Which also gives them first dibs on designers like Alexandre Herchcovitch. A fashion icon in his native Brazil (think Marc Jacobs), Herchcovitch’s line hit the U.S. a few years ago. And smart New Yorkers have been all up in his pieces ever since.

Flirty silk chiffon tiered dresses. Bright underpinnings. Bold custom floral fabrics printed on both sides for a vintage feel. Attention to details, like hand-carved wood buttons and trend-defying silhouettes. A spring collection that just may singlehandedly bring back the jumper.

Well, now it’s finally available in our town. So you can fill your closet without hopping a flight to JFK.

Or putting up with any of that New York attitude.

Available at Jake, 939 North Rush Street, between Oak and Walton Streets (312-664-5553); Hejfina, 1529 North Milwaukee Avenue, between North and Evergreen Avenues (773-772-0002).
