The Proverbial Bread Basket

When Jordan’s Food of Distinction opened, it lived up to the first half of the proverb that starts “Give a man a fish.”

You come. They cook. You eat.

But, beginning this summer, JFOD finishes the thought by teaching you how to cook.

We know, we know: The whole allure was having dinner prepared for you in a private, tricked-out kitchen. But we suspect that going head-to-head with a ten-burner stove will be just as rewarding — and certainly more entertaining.

Classes are private, so you’ll get plenty of attention from the adorable chefs, and the menu is customized to your taste, with anything from Asian to Italian. Just pick a night, gather ten to 25 pals, and let JFOD plan and shop. Your job: sauté and chop.

At $100 per person (including wine), it costs about the same as a night at an average trendster resto followed by a drink or two.

And, you know, you have to do something with all those pennies you’ve saved and earned.

Jordan’s Food of Distinction, 1551 West Thomas Street, between Ashland and North Milwaukee Avenues (773-278-8111 or jfod.com). By appointment only.
