One to Grow On

When you were just a wee little thing, conventional wisdom offered this pearl: Eat your veggies and you’ll grow up to be big and strong.

These days the message is more like: Eat your organic, hormone-free veggies, and if your parents decide against the gas-guzzling Hummer, maybe then you’ll have a safe world to grow up in. Maybe.

Give the brood a fighting chance by heading to Grow, a new kids’ boutique with an eye toward modern and healthy products, opening this weekend. The shop is stocked with cute-as-a-button, organic-cotton clothing from Fig and Kate Quinn Organics, environmentally friendly products like flushable diapers, and all-natural body washes and creams for baby’s bottom.

They’ve also loaded up on hard-to-find-in-Chicago, modern nursery furniture from Oeuf and Ooba. Warning to childless minimalists: These pieces are so beautiful they may inspire you to procreate.

Of course, that means you’ll have to take care of the little bugger.

But he’s sure to grow on you.
