You’re sick of playing silly games.
The ambiguous texts (what u doin?). The phone call droughts (crazy week babe, sorry). I love you (only during sex).
Enough. The only game you should play is one in which you’re in control — like Blast Theory’s Can You See Me Now?, launching this week as part of the MCA’s performance series.
Can You See Me Now? is played online and in the streets — at the same time. Players (that’s you) control avatars in an Internet representation of Chicago. Your opponents (the Blast Theory Runners) are real people out on the streets tracking down your virtual counterpart using a GPS handheld.
Online players (you, again) can access audio streams from the runners’ handhelds to listen in on their progress or hear if they’re out of breath.
The game accommodates twenty players at a time, and you can expect to get misleading text messages from the runners.
Which should be no problem for you — considering your gaming experience.
Can You See Me Now?, November 2-5, 1-4 p.m. Participation is free with registration at mcachicago.org or canyouseemenow.co.uk.
