A Big Yolker
Yolk Opens

The age-old question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
You can beat (yuk, yuk) your brain for the answer or just head to Yolk, the new South Loop breakfast joint where eggs always come first.
The latest spot from self-proclaimed suburban breakfast king Taki Kastanis (Grandma Sally’s, Egg’lectic Cafe), Yolk is here to help start your day sunny side up. With everything from skillets to scramblers, it will be tough to work your way through the more than 50 egg dishes (and that’s not even counting the stuffed French toast and bananas Foster crepes).
Egg-ceptional picks include the big Texas fajita omelet, the Blue Bayou frittata, and the Cajun scrambler. Want a healthy alternative? Try the Iron Man low-carb omelet loaded with fresh veggies.
If you’re looking for chicken, this probably isn’t your spot. Unless, of course, they’ve got chicken sausage on the menu.
In which case, the yolk’s on us.
Yolk, 1120 South Michigan Avenue, between 11th Street and Roosevelt Road (312-789-9655 or yolk-online.com).
