Your tea is Moroccan. Those kicks are Italian. Your wax is Brazilian. And that red you’re sipping on? From France, bien sur.
Everyone thinks you’re worldly. But the truth is, your passport hasn’t left the bottom of your sock drawer.
Expand your horizons with Globiblio, an international book club that explores the world through literature. Each month, the group visits a book written by an author from another country
and chows down on ethnic grub.
The 90-minute discussions — less time than it takes to go through airport security — can get heated but are always fun. And, as with any hot destination, reservations are recommended. Next on the itinerary: China (January), Cuba (February), and Ireland (March).
All you need is your book and an optional bottle and/or dish inspired by the chosen country (sure beats airplane food). Now that’s packing light.
Another endeavor you could use some work on.
Globiblio, at 826CHI, 1331 North Milwaukee Avenue, at Paulina Street (773-772-8108 or 826chi.org).
