Davies Train

Erica Davies Spring Dresses

You’ve been called a lot of things: a piece of work, a work in progress, a whole lotta work. (What? All you did was throw your cell phone at the cleaning lady.)

But a work of art? Never.

Change that by slipping into a frock from Erica Davies. She’s spent the past year as the creative force behind Development, but it’s her eponymous line that turns dressmaking into an art form.

Each season, she features 25 to 30 dresses. This spring, she’s pushing the boundaries of shape, color, and pattern, gleaning inspiration from Man Ray’s portraits and the Cubist movement.

Try a day-to-night short-sleeve silk kimono in a punchy lime and brown fan print. Pair your ballet flats with the steel obi-style dress. And the floor-length number fashioned from a rainbow tulip pattern? Your wedding season go-to.

Never say never.

Available at Roslyn, 2035 North Damen Avenue, between McLean and Dickens Avenues (773-489-1311).
