Lumen Opens

everything is il-lumen-ated!

Your aversion to Hummer limos and bottle service has made you a social pariah. And your attempt at a backlash (Friday night Planet Earth parties) is quickly losing steam.

If you don’t find a new hangout soon, you’ll be destined to a life of solitude, complete with tofu popsicles and an unhealthy obsession with Sigourney Weaver.

As if you wished upon a socially responsible star, Lumen — a hot nightspot with a cool vibe — is opening tonight. In the heart of the Fulton Market District, the green-friendly lounge is built entirely of bamboo, stainless steel, and concrete. Drinks are mostly organic; even the OJ is fresh-squeezed.

But the main attraction is the LED installation that illuminates and reflects light based on body movements and beats. Upping the awesome factor even more are the live DJ shows performed via satellite (both locally and internationally), so you can bump to Berlin’s beats on central time.

Talk about out of this world.

Lumen, 839 West Fulton Market Street, at Green Street (312-733-2222).
