Hello, Photo
Neglected Beauty Photographs

If it were up to you, you’d live in a pod with the Jetsons and have ten robot best friends.
Your obsession with all things future could use a bit of balance.
Get a blast from the past with Carey Primeau’s Neglected Beauty photographs. Born and bred here, Primeau has been photographing Chicago for years in an attempt to document what our city once was — industrial, working class, community based — before it disappears.
He shoots mostly abandoned, demolished, or forgotten buildings like Jacob Riis Elementary, Michael Reese Hospital, and the Uptown Theatre. Each frame captures a moment in history with vivid color and extraordinary precision.
The future is pretty cool.
But let’s not forget: We built this city.
