Welcome to the Dollhouse

Tamar Mogendorff Dolls

The idea of a yak head on your wall makes you want to, well, yak.

For a less offensive play on taxidermy, check out Tamar Mogendorff’s dolls.

With the cutest faces the world has ever seen, the dolls are made of linen, wool, mohair, vintage fabrics, tweed, and pashmina and decorated with arty odds and ends like antique buttons and beads, silver thread, and old ribbons.

The collection consists of animal heads, hens, coral, poodles, bunnies, sea horses, geese, oysters with pearls, birdcages, mushrooms, and more. Mogendorff was inspired to create the line after working as a gardener and flower designer and falling in love with plants and nature.

Perfect for a table display (the greyhound stands up!), shelf (birdhouse), or wall (polar bear head), these puppies put Barbie to shame.

Turns out plastic doesn’t make perfect.

Available at Asrai Garden, 1935 West North Avenue, at Winchester Avenue (773-782-0680). To see styles, go to tmogy.com.
