Super Sweet Sixteen

Sixteen Opens

Ah, the perks of being a millionaire.

You can marry models. Host TV shows. And pull off a mean comb-over.

Once you’ve achieved that, you can open a restaurant in your very own skyscraper. Like Donald Trump’s Midwestern debut, Sixteen. Lavish and grandiose, the art deco-inspired space has towering ceilings, a glass teardrop chandelier, and 30-foot-tall windows with crystal clear views of the skyline.

Chef Frank Brunacci (Ritz Carlton, New Orleans and Buckhead; Les Saveurs, London) mans the 24-hour kitchen, whipping up breakfast (Parma ham and melon, lobster tostada, poached eggs), lunch (steak sandwich on olive loaf, walleye pike with roasted beets and horseradish cream), and dinner (slow-poached red snapper, peeky toe crab dumplings).

The six-course degustation menu offers gems like hand-harvested Maine diver scallops with artichokes, pasta, and red pepper agrodolce (sweet sauce) with suggested wine pairings.

It’s almost worth getting fired for.

Sixteen, Trump International Tower & Hotel Chicago, 401 North Wabash Avenue, at Kinzie Street (312-588-8000 or trumpchicagohotel.com). Open for breakfast and dinner only. Lunch service starts March 3.
