The Bite Stuff

Veggie Bite Opens

the bite stuff!

If a tree hugger mated with a McDonald’s-o-maniac, their lovechild would eat:
a) Royale with cheese (extra trans fat, please).
b) nuts, seeds, and hemp.
c) vegan chili-cheese fries.

You sly little fox: C is correct.

For healthy vegan grub cleverly disguised as fast food, head to Veggie Bite, Wicker Park hipster magnet and vegan wet dream. Created to promote a sound body and planet, VB’s second Chicago location is ecofriendly (recycled sheet metal ceilings), kitschy (tangerine and blue sponge-painted walls), and totally affordable ($7 max).

And then there’s the food. Buffalo wings. Gyros. Meatball subs. Philly cheese steaks. Milkshakes. All vegan, all lip-smackin’ tasty, and all made with good-for-you ingredients like whole wheat organic seitan, tofu, and natural spices.

VB will even consider adding dishes to the menu upon special request.

Which certainly doesn’t bite.

Veggie Bite, 1300 North Milwaukee Avenue, at Paulina Street (773-772-2483 or veggiebite.net).
