Planet Earth

A Cooler Planet Opens

it's easy being green!

Most sisters smack each other upside the head and pull hair for sport.

Heidi Bailey and Krista White are saving the earth.

In an attempt to create ecofriendly homes for their families and finding obstacles at every turn, the siblings became environmental experts. Agreeing that green living should be simple and accessible, they researched like crazy and opened A Cooler Planet, an ecolifestyle store in the heart of Roscoe Village.

The light, colorful space is made from recycled, repurposed materials (think cardboard walls). Fairly traded, certified organic, U.S.-manufactured products abound: Terressentials skin care, Skinny Skinny soap bars (with plastic-free packaging), Under the Canopy clothing, cute organic bed and bath linens, shoes made from recycled rubber tires, and more.

With every purchase, the sisters plant a tree in an underserved region.

Talk about putting down roots.

A Cooler Planet, 2211 West Roscoe Street, between Leavitt Street and Bell Avenue (773-248-1110 or itsacoolerplanet.com).
