Runway show; cocktail hour. A model brushes by.
You: Your ass is grass, Bonestyle.
Model: Thanks.
You: No, seriously. There’s actual grass on your ass.
Model: I know. I’m doing this season’s floral trend. Don’t you think it totally kicks?
Scene ends with air kiss.
You can’t deny the ass-grass factor at Fleurotica, a fashion show where apparel and accessories are made from flowers, plants, leaves, and other botanical elements. Taking place on March 28, the event honors Garfield Park Conservatory’s 100th anniversary.
Local floral designers (Fleur, Stems, Hello Darling) and students from the Millinery Department of Chicago’s Art Institute create the fashion, including banana leaf skirts, calla lily tops, and lily grass belts. Strutting takes place in the Conservatory’s bloom-blanketed Horticulture Hall.
Where you’re sure to be on model behavior.
Fleurotica, Friday, March 28, 7-10 p.m., at Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 North Central Park Avenue, at Fulton Boulevard (312-746-5100 or garfieldconservatory.org). Tickets at 773-638-1766 ext. 13. Places limited.
