Veerasway Restaurant Opens

If celebrity culture is your sustenance (no judgments), then the New Kids on the Block reunion should sate you through summer.

If you thrive on actual food, there’s another new kid on the block you should look out for: Veerasway.

Opening today, the latest addition to the West Loop’s restaurant row gives traditional Indian cuisine a sleek, contemporary makeover.

Owner Angela Hepler Lee knows a thing or two about ethnic grub — she made sushi sexy at Wabi and tacos trendy at De Cero. For this venture, Lee adds unusual twists to usual Indian fare. Think scallops with coconut milk, curry leaves, and red chilis; crispy banana peppers stuffed with lentils and paneer; and creamy coconut rum lassi martinis.

Don’t leave without trying the spiced chocolate cake with rice ice cream and cashew praline.
