Winging It

Chicago Bird Collision Monitors

chirp! chirp!

Bird: This scenery is fly.

Word: And the traffic’s a breeze!

Bird: I can’t wait to start my migration novel when we land.

Word: Your sales are going to be sky high.

Bird: I hope so. I’m …

Splat.

Bird: Oy, my wings! I didn’t even see that window!

Dude: Word, birds! I’m from the Chicago Bird Collision Monitors, a nonprofit volunteer project dedicated to saving migratory birds. We look for injured birds and take them to be rehabilitated by wildlife specialists. We donate those who are not as lucky to the Field Museum for their collection.

Word: How can people help?

Dude: By donating time and money, people can help spread the word about building collisions and create a safer flying environment. Buildings around Chicago have already started applying window treatments so birds can see more clearly. Now let’s get you some medical attention.

Word: Thank you for tweeting us so nicely.
