Gone Dishin’

Up in the Air Somewhere Ceramics

dish it out!

Still putting peonies in pop cans and pate on paper plates?

Sounds like someone could use a more respectable receptacle.

Get a dose of grownup with Up in the Air Somewhere, functional home designs made by School of the Art Institute grad Susan Dwyer.

Her Silo Series, which takes cues from the silos on Halsted and Chicago, is a collection of organic, sculptural water towers, planters, votives, and vases in cool neutral tones.

But dishware is where Dwyer really shines. The Gold-bottom Dish (made with gold leaf) has an uneven lip; the Gold Lip Platter is made from smooth white ceramic and has a simple, chic gold-leaf rim. Each piece is handmade (she doesn’t work with molds), so no two are alike — a nice changeup from your previous serveware provider.
