The Rocking Chair: a Scene of Love and Repair
Scene opens as CHAIR sulks in corner. It’s covered in dust; its legs are worn. No one has used it in decades.
Chair: Ah, I am old. House guests no longer look my way. I just don’t rock the way I used to. What am I to do?
Enter DIANA DURKES, stage right, in paint-stained overalls.
Diana: Fear not, friend. I have ten years’ experience refurbishing the likes of you. With a fresh coat, some decoupage, and a little sanding, you’ll be just like new.
Chair: Really?
Diana: Sure. I do custom work in my basement studio. Mosaic Table, Nightstand, and Retro Chest will make you feel right at home.
Chair: Oh, Diana. You’re the sit.
