It’s too cold for fro-yo and, frankly, you need a break from the cupcake.
Give your sweet tooth something new to chew at Hoosier Mama Pie Company, opening tomorrow in West Town.
The made-from-scratch pies by Paula Haney (Trio, 312 Chicago, One Sixtyblue) have been Green City Market-approved for two years. Now she’s got her own three-table bakeshop with open kitchen, ’40s decor, and a rotating menu from dozens of seasonal selections available by the six- or nine-inch pie, slice, or flight.
Haney fills crimped, hand-rolled dough with fresh apples, pumpkin, banana cream, and more. She also bakes Southern-inspired custard chess pies like chocolate, lemon, and vinegar.
Individual pieces are served on vintage plates.
Which is sweet — any way you slice it.
