Mother’s Day 2009

She’s a planner, a doer, a maker. She’s your mom. And you inherited her best qualities. Here’s a strict regimen for her special day.

11:30 a.m. Rise and shine for brunch at May Street Market. Mom’ll go balls-out for Alexander Cheswick’s three-course prix fixe menu — sangria salad (Greek yogurt, fresh berries, homemade granola), grilled zucchini frittata, and warm chocolate fondant with lavender ice cream. 3-5:30 p.m. She taught you everything you know. At The Chopping Block’s Cook with Your Mom class, you can work side by side on, say, spinach- and cheese-stuffed crepes and lemon tart with strawberries. Space is limited. Reservations required at 773-472-6700.

6 p.m. Satisfy her — inside and out — with dinner at Sola. Chef Carol Wallack cooks up specials like halibut cheeks, foie gras ravioli, and Hawaiian sea bass with English pea quinoa. The first 100 moms to dine throughout the day get a gift bag from C.O. Bigelow.

7:45 p.m. Mom deserves the sweetest treatment. Butter her up with a mini cake from new Lakeview bakery Phoebe’s Cupcakes. Salted caramel? Sparkly pear? Dark chocolate? It’s mommy! Get ’em all!

10:30 p.m. She’ll sleep like a baby (mama) on a custom silhouette pillow from Le Papier Studio. Send a family profile pic to designer Vana Chupp and she’ll masterfully iron each punim to perfection.
