paper n. that stuff you used to write on with a pen

When was the last time you actually wrote a letter?

(We’ll give you a minute.)

Time’s up. It’s been awhile.

(Tsk tsk.)

Bring back the lost art with custom letterpress stationery from Mother of Hermes Press. Self-taught design prodigy Maia Rigas collects old-school press gadgets: Pinhole perforators and paper cutters populate her Andersonville garage-cum-studio. Rigas uses hand-set type — and a barrel of good taste — to create stationery from the traditional to the Soviet-modernist-constructivist. (Her words. Swear.)

Thoughtful details (big wood type with wooden accents) and a feminine touch make for refined, eye-catching work.

About that letter writing lull …

Keep us posted.
