Report from the FBI, Munchkin Unit (highly classified)
Mission: Have a child infiltrate a fancy French restaurant. Successfully.
Test site: Aigre Doux, near Merchandise Mart.
Activity: Upon entering, Special Agent Small Fry and his parents ask about the secret, off-menu meals for tots ages 12 and under. Server explains that choices range from organic carrot soup to turkey meatballs. Acting on a tip, parents ask if Fry can visit the kitchen to watch chefs Malika Ameen and Mohammad Islam prepare his meal. Server seats Fry in a red plastic chair behind the chefs, who offer to let him roll his own pizza dough.
Summary: Mission accomplished — and it’s all too good to keep under cover.
Aigre Doux, 230 West Kinzie Street, between Franklin and Wells Streets (312-329-9400 or aigredouxchicago.com).
