Pig Love

The gray skies are killing.

But cloudy with a chance of hog? Now that’s a forecast you can handle.

Now you can get swined and dined at The Purple Pig, a wine, cheese, and meat joint from Jimmy Bannos (Heaven on Seven), Scott Harris (Mia Francesca), and Jimmy Bannos Jr.

JB Jr. mans the kitchen (and does this kid know his stuff), offering a stand-up mix of Spanish, Italian, and Greek share plates: salt-roasted beets, whipped goat cheese, pistachio; sepia, toasted almonds, rosemary; mortadella, caponata, and bone marrow smears; pig’s ears, fried egg, Calabrian chili. Bannos also grills seafood a la plancha and cures his own lardo and gabagool.

Wait, there’s more: carefully curated cheeses (blu di bufala, garrotxa), hundreds of wines (by glass, quartino, or bottle), Greek and Spanish beers, and French cider and Italian brews on tap.

Hey, when it rains it boars.
