Take the red pill or the blue pill. Or go down The Rabbit Hole, a secretive supper club run by the Cheshire Chef and Queen of Tarts (yep, that’s what they call themselves) and have a really good, rather unusual, dining adventure.
Chef has ten-plus years of cooking experience (she helmed SubCulture Dining in San Francisco); Queen focuses on serving and front-of-the-house goings-on. Together, they create delectable five-to-six-course dinners for 25 guests.
The meals may have a theme and decoration: leather tablecloths at the Metal variety, for example. Music is carefully curated, never cloying (David Bowie, M.I.A., Elvis Costello).
Quirky, seasonal dishes have a fresh Northern California and European bent (Brussels sprouts salad with wild boar bacon, skate wing with lemon ice cream). A combo of BYO and pairings keeps you just sober enough to take it all in.
A day-of phone call reveals the location. From there, things might just get curiouser and curiouser.
Register for the May 29 and June 12 dinners online at therabbitholechicago.com, $85 per person.
