You could spend all day in Floriole Cafe & Bakery if you didn’t have that damn job: Wake up on a reclaimed wood table with sun streaming through the skylight; dive headfirst into the pastry case; attack a fresh, warm pecan sticky bun or a flaky almond croissant; and wash it down with a cup of Intelligentsia.
The geniuses behind the just-opened shop are baker extraordinaire Sandra and her French husband Mathieu Holl, who got their start at Green City Market.
Follow lunch (starting in May, you can get sandwiches like soppressatta pecorino on fresh-baked bread) with a buttery shortbread cookie that dissolves on the tongue. For a real gut-buster, get a slice of creamsicle cake and a savory, caramely onion jam brioche.
Pack up some homemade yogurt and crunchy olive oil granola and make a run for it. Hey, you gotta eat tomorrow.
