Cupcake Van Dishes Sweets to the Masses

Despite every effort to not take sweets from strangers, you’ll squeal like a child as you run toward Flirty Cupcakes mobile bakery, the city’s first gourmet dessert food truck.  

Chef James Cox (formerly of Japonais) spends the morning at Kitchen Chicago baking tons of fresh cakes. Then he hops into his tricked-out powder blue van to hawk treats to the masses from a fringed serving window. 

Plan lunch around Flirty’s schedule and indulge in classics (red velvet with cream cheese frosting) or twists on the standard (banana chocolate with salted caramel Italian buttercream, chocolate with Nutella ganache). There’s a surprise flavor of the week, and minis are available — for that little kid in you.
