Baked to order by local pastry genius Malika Ameen (Chateau Marmont, Aigre Doux, Top Chef: Just Desserts), these puppies are the real deal: European butter, King Arthur flour, sea salt, and an enticing blend of organic spices lend each cookie a flavor of its own.
Chocolate junkies, head straight for the truffle, packed with bits of white, bittersweet, and milk chocolate and laced with Vietnamese cinnamon. Our favorite is oatmeal chunk, a sweet-salty combo of butterscotch, tart dried cherries, thick rolled oats, and maple syrup. For her dense, chewy fig bars (pictured), Ameen slow braises dried black and green figs in fresh orange juice, and then adds orange zest, cloves, and raspberry jam.
She does custom orders, too, like seasonal birthday cakes (people love the chocolate layer cake with passion fruit curd) and sought-after sticky toffee pudding.
