Somebody must have sprinkled pixie dust in Logan Square because Play, the neighborhood’s first toy and game boutique, has opened and is spreading magic to kids of all ages. We snooped around and discovered gift-worthy treasures.
Twig Building Set, $50
Fat Brain Toys’s take on classic building blocks is 72 various-size wooden pieces. Sort units by color, build a tower, or construct a maze. Anything’s possible.
Toysmith Bedroom Doorbell, $12
Ding dong. Anybody there? Just your wee princess who’s happy as a fairy-tale ending when you sound this flower-shaped doorbell. A girl needs her privacy, after all.
P’kolino Robot Puzzle, $20
The usual puzzle rules don’t apply to this modern wood brainteaser, which has many correct solutions (pieces aptly fit in a variety of locations).
Happyland Play Sets, $10-$70
Just when you thought you OD’d on figurines, along come irresistible small wonders that stand out for their charming simplicity. Start with one set (a school or fire station, perhaps?). Soon your living room will house a village.
Indestructibles Books, $5
A mom of triplets invented these waterproof and tear-resistant reads. Made from durable paper-like material, they’ll hold up against babies who like to eat their words. Our faves: Hey, Diddle Diddle and Humpty Dumpty.
Play, 3109 West Logan Boulevard, at Milwaukee Avenue (773-227-6504 or playlogansquare.com).
