New to their comfort food menu is chocolate caramel banana pot pie, a sweet take on the savory classic. It’s like calorie-packed Prozac — without the side effects.Chocolate Caramel Banana Pot PieServes ten to twelveIngredientsFor the chocolate2 c. sour cream2 c. semisweet chocolate chips1 tsp. vanilla extract½ tsp. salt1. Place everything in a saucepan over medium heat.2. Stir until mixture is smooth, then remove from heat.For the caramel banana sauce2¼ c. light brown sugar7 tbsp. butter1 c. half-and-half1 tsp. bourbon¼ tsp. vanilla extract10 bananas, sliced ¼-inch thick1. Place everything except bananas in a saucepan over medium-high heat, whisking as butter melts.2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer 5-7 minutes.3. Remove from heat; let cool 5 minutes. Fold in bananas.For the pastry3 c. flour4 tbsp. butter, chilled and cubed2 tbsp. shortening1 tsp. salt2 tsp. sugar7 tbsp. ice water1. Put flour, butter, shortening, salt, and sugar into the bowl of a food processor. Pulse until well mixed.2. Add water slowly until dough forms.3. Remove and knead until just mixed — do not overknead. Shape into golf ball-size pieces.For the assembly1. Preheat oven to 350°.2. Put one serving spoon chocolate into bottom of a casserole dish or large ramekin.3. Add one scoop banana mix.4. Roll one ball of dough out to a disc, make three slits in the dough, and place it over bananas. Brush with egg wash.5.
